I am Lani McDonald: owner, organizer, and word-lover of Order in the Fort. With a lifelong passion for organizing spaces and things, and that same level of passion for catching typos and ordering thoughts into words, I knew it was time to reinvent Order in the Fort, the professional organizing service I launched in 2010 but tucked away for a few years as my family experienced the sort of milestones and “surprises” that make life both challenging and beautiful.
Today, Order in the Fort is organizing the spaces and things in your life, as well as your thoughts and ideas that deserve to look good in writing.
My background includes a BA in English from the University of Iowa, a variety of publication credits, and more than 25 years of diverse administrative work in non-profits, education, and hospitality.
A highlight of my ongoing student adventures is completion of the intensive FrontDoor Senior Move Management Training and Business Development Program offered by the National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM). Professional memberships include Iowa Professional Organizers, Altoona Area Chamber of Commerce, and ACES: The Society for Editing, whose resources keep me informed and inspired to best serve you.
